Thank you Patrick and Lenny! As a FTF, pricing has always invoked anxiety for me. I tended to think that testing W2P with our user-base would drive irrecoverable churn given the user often has more leverage than the startup in early days. This post really helped me understand how to approach B2B pricing more methodically, and be confident about our value proposition.
This is so helpful. We're trying to figure out our DTC membership pricing and it has confirmed some assumptions and also changed my mind on others. I'd love to see the spreadsheet applied to DTC. In any case, thank you!
Are you suggesting A/B test pricing? I'd imagine something like that on a quarterly basis sounds great on paper but difficult to operationalize at scale.
6. Should you end your price in 9s or 0s? Depends on your price point - chart illustrating this point has "spacer" in x-axis. Despite this, a great read! Huge thanks!
Thank you for this. This is the best thing I've read on SaaS pricing I've ever read.
Thanks a lot for this post 🙏 Very helpful to understand high level/strategic pricing challenges and very actionable at the same time
Great post! Very well explained the pricing ideology, helpful for early stage startups.
Sharing this with my team as a pre-read before I host an internal workshop on pricing & monetization. Really insightful!

Thank you Lenny & Patrick for sharing the experience! Is there any experience on how to drive up the freemium user to become paid?
Any suggestions/templates to get us started with the research to validate value metrics and willingness to pay?
Such a good read and eye opener on many levels regarding SaaS pricing

Good idea, will try to get to that someday.

Thanks for noting that! Will try to fix.
