So much value in this one! Definitely bookmarking to revisit later as well.
Paying attention to my own problems and solving it is something that I'm focusing on right now. Will fine tune my thought process with additional insights in this piece!
Such a thorough article that's been thoughtfully structured so that there are clear takeaways for those that want it, as well as being easily digestible (while still detailed-filled) for those who are just interested. Thank you!
Thanks Lenny - humbled you responded & asked :-) In the course of your speaking with PMs and founders, could you share any patterns/ factors that helped companies set themselves up for success once they decided to expand internationally? (Could also be mistakes/ things to have watched out for, in hindsight?)
Saw that you had two posts (probably more) on the topic: Feb 2020 succinctly covered the Why, Where, and How, while Mar 2019 briefly touched on int'l expansion as a growth lever.
I help build community to make "international" a shared experience, and keen to learn more!
Fantastic. In case you want to bounce off your insights/expertise on the topic, or need addt'l resources to tap into, I can connect you with Klaus Wehage & Aaron McDaniel whose upcoming book, Global Class, is on this topic.
They interviewed diverse founders & execs who drove int'l expansion efforts, including growth PMs such as Kathryn Hymes (fmr Head of International Product Expansion @ Slack) and Scott Coleman (fmr Head of Growth & International Product @ Pinterest), among 350+ others
I read a lot of business books that could have been a blog post. This is one of the first blogs/newsletter articles I've read that could easily be a book! So much depth here with a lot of info that is usually really hard to find - the starting moments of successful companies are usually glossed over on a surface level and miss this critical insights. Kudos for everything you have put into this!!

I have never seen such valuable content anywhere else.
The best idea is to solve your own problems and then offer that solution to others. Thanks for the details!

Excellent and insightful! 🔥Waiting for the B2B series.
Part 1 on ideation is 🔥 Can't wait for the next of this series on kickstarting your own startup!
Any chance you also touch on international growth/ global expansion on part 6: Scaling?
You mean how companies expanded internationally? What would you like to know?

Noted! Likely won’t be part of this series in depth, but will keep this in mind.

Incredible resource. I love the heavily data-driven approach with both quantitative + qualitative info. Looking forward to the rest of the series!
Excellent article. I look forward to the next parts!
Excellent 👌💯, looking forward for next one.
Hi Lenny,
Would you recommend some reading about: Strategy 4: Pay attention to paradigm shifts, and work backward ?
I am curious how one can be more practical about this step.
Thanks in advance!
