Lenny - I’m a physician who writes memoir but I love reading your reflective posts because they have helpful info on writing. Your post after crossing 500,000 led me to read On writing well and a few short sentences on writing.
I only write once a month and sometimes that cadence feels too much for me because I don’t want to run out of ideas. Just wondering if you had ever considered cutting back to publishing every other week based on that concern or is there truly enough material out there to keep going at your rate?
Congrats on 1,000,000 Lenny! 🎉 Thanks for bringing so much amazing product + startup knowledge into the world.
Q: If you were starting from 0 today & wanted to build or learn from a community via starting a substack, what types of activities, partnerships and early milestones would you focus on as either a personal brand or company?
I’m starting to think about the types of messaging and community building that we’ll need to do in order to share more about our software company that helps run nonprofit programs. Thanks!
Lenny, I’m imagining 1,000,000 persons standing in front of you right now and that number is just….bonkers! 🤯 It’s so inspiring! Well done!
My main strategy is to never actually imagine this, as I send each email. I'm going to delete this comment out of my mind 🤣
WOOHOO! 🎉
Congrats Lenny - it's been super inspiring to watch you grow this monster!!
Thanks for sharing your wisdom throughout the journey! Excited for the next time.
Pretty cool to see this amount of growth with very minimal marketing.
It's comforting to know this growth is possible if you just put out a good product.
It's also nerve racking to know that lack of growth is also because you don't put out a good product.
Hi Lenny,
I only joined your community in 2024 but always read your newsletters and pick the podcasts that fit me.
In my opinion, it's the only regular newsletter that actually adds value instead of spamming my inbox. Hence, I shared it with quite a few others.
Keep up the AWESOMEness!
Cheers..
Totally agree with this. The ONLY one that regularly adds value in my inbox.
Very much my #1 goal.
Just plain old WOW! Congratulations!
sheryl revenge tour starts with lenny??
Let's do it.
BOOM! Well deserved
Thanks for contributing to the growth!
New to Substack and absolutely loved reading this - congrats
Huge congratulations! Your content’s been so valuable—even for those of us not in product. Thank you for all you do! 🚀
That's seriously insane in the space of 5 years. Bravo!
One thing that is interacting is the evolution of the letter from specific product managers through to wider business and personal journeys.
The niche widened as the audience did.

I do think about cutting back, but if people are paying $20/month, I don't think they'd be too happy if I cut down on what I provide them.
Congrats on 1,000,000 Lenny! 🎉 Thanks for bringing so much amazing product + startup knowledge into the world.

I'd mostly focus on providing value to readers / being useful to them. Outside of that, look for ways to do guest posts in existing large newsletters.
Great work!
You're a legend Lenny! Thank you so much for sharing this wealth of knowledge and making a world a better place. You are an inspiration. <3
This is incredible achievement! Congratulations!
